May 1, 2008. Ethan Turns 3 years old.
After our advance birthday family celebration HERE and after receiving gifts from thoughtful uncle ninong, aunt and tita HERE, Ethan thought his birthday was over. Of course, I wouldn't miss surprising him on his birthday morn! Despite a 7-page school paper I did the night before, I woke up early and baked him some colorful muffins and a birthday cake he would blow as soon as he wakes up and before his baba leaves home. Good thing as his little Aunts helped us in blowing some ballloons which we placed in the backyard. The 1st thing that Ethan does when he wakes up is pull up the window blinds and look out of the window overlooking our backyard and lake. Unfortunately, the grass were sharp and some balloons popped out.
I was too busy the whole week and requested hubby to buy the baking ingredients. He missed out buying some of them, which explains these messy cakes and muffins LOL! But of course, Ethan enjoyed blowing his candles and eating his muffins with his baba. Hee!
and here are the rest of the pictures.
Then we dropped him at a Tita's house so he could spend time and play with his Uncle Silver and little Aunts. When they came to pick me up at school, he gave me this big smile. I know he had a fun birthday. His very first here.
and yes Grandma did not fail to cook pancit for long life!
Again, HAPPY HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY ETHAN XAVIER!!! May you be as healthy and as adorable as always. Be a good boy always. This video is for you mamyta, daddy yo, uncle ninong wowie, uncle ninong dico and yayay!
Today is our sunshine's 3rd birthday. I was planning to write him a letter and post it here but God knows I tried to squeeze that in my busy sched and school papers due today, it's just that I have to choose between writing him a letter or surprising him with some colorful muffins. I chose the latter as obviously he would appreciate the muffins more than the letter now. I was worried that my son won't have a blast on his 3rd birthday. Considering that on his 1st Birthday and 2nd Birthday, he had big celebrations filled with many kids and loving family. But then, we have a new life here. As expected, it will be a quiet one. However, it is also this year that he had an inkling of what a birthday is, so I wanted it to be extra special. Hubby and I originally planned to cook for the whole clan but for some unforseen circumstance, we forego with that plan. Also, on this day I have a class till 10pm and it is impossible for me to celebrate his birthday today. We decided to have our family celebration last tuesday (part 2 of this entry). Busy people, we truly are!
And so I thought his 3rd birthday will be a quiet one, I was wrong. It turned out to be a weeklong celebration. Some few days ago, gifts, shopping money and birthday cards have been pouring in specifically coming from his uncle ninong wowie, ii jing and ninang chingkee! Thank you so much, you don't know how much you made Ethan very happy. The entire time, he keeps telling me that he wants to see all of you again. Here's some pictures to share. Notice the haircut? yes. finally he got one. To be continued... (this is part 1 of 4)

> There's no cake of the week this week, I skipped my usual Sunday bake day as I burnt myself last week from frying bread fish for Ethan's merienda. I have about 5 long lines or burned skin in my lower wrist and they're ugly! Hay! Enough of the oven and frying pan muna. I hope these lines won't retain some darkness in my skin.
>STILL, no apartment to date. Either we have security issues with the ones available or it's too far or too expensive for our budget. tsk tsk.
>I survived my 1st paper in school and 1st 2 quizzes. I am proud to say that in both quizzes I got 100%!!! Yipee heheh. Then my other final project's topic was approved by my adviser. The Study of USAID (United States Agency for International Development) Micro-Enterprise Programs in The Philippines. To my ex-collegues in the NGO, pretty please send me any info that might help me in my research, I have barely 9 weeks to complete this.
>I have a new friend. Yes, I made a friend in school. She's Russian and she's really nice. We chitchat after school for about 30 minutes while waiting for our sundo. Kikay din and madaldal hahaha. Next time, papicture ako with her, she looks like a Russian doll. Then the chitchat continues on the phone hahah...
>Last Thursday's class/separation with my son: Ethan cried again and with matching sigaw: "Baba, I want my Mommy, Get Mommy Now!". I wonder when he'll ever get used to this set-up. Then hubby brought him to the men's salon for a haircut but obviously in his previous pictures, he didn't get the haircut. Sabi ni hubby as soon as the stylist brought out the kiddie chair, Ethan went out of the Salon na walang lingon lingon na, I could just imagine hahah!. Sabi ko kasi sa Kiddie Salon at hintayin ako. Hopefully before he turns 3 on May 1, he'll get the much-delayed haircut hahah!
>I gained 2 lbs!!! I am back to dieting and I am on my 3rd day. I hope to lose the 9lbs in 3 weeks. Pressure pressure maraming friends na dadating to meet with us plus 2 weddings to look forward to.
>I am still undecided whether to join Litratong Pinoy as I don't think I could cope up with a 3rd photo meme in this blog. Anyhoo, leaving you all with my supposedly entries for their bilog and tatsulok weeks hee.

I still can't put myself to finish my Polaroid School Paper due in less than 24 hours!!! I made the Abstract and the Conclusion, but the frikkin' body and the framework, can I skip those parts? I have another one which is due by Friday plus 6 chapters of book to analyze. So this is Graduate School, huh? Hee! Anyhoo, I tried to entertain myself after finding inspiration HERE and I was definitely entertained by this LOL! I miss all my gayfriends!
And I survived my 1st day of on-campus class...
The night before Thursday, I logged on my eCollege Companion (a software we use for our online class). I have noticed that my on-campus class/Information Technology for Decision Making Week 1 assignments, quizzes and lecture slides were also there. Just scanning thru the instructions (without going over the details) from our Prof, I panicked and told hubby that I think we have a quiz on the 1st day, that I should be reading the whole of Chapter 1 and I have to come up with the 10-paged assignment. Grabe naturete ako! I didn't want to come unprepared. So I slept around 5am finishing everything the whole night.
Thursday came and Ethan was once again oriented with the whole situation, he kept saying "ok mommy go to school, Ethan stay with baba, Ethan no crying, be strong". But as soon as we parted ways, he cried again. Later on I found out from hubby that he was crying everytime he looks for me which is every 30 minutes. They went to the playground and to another relative's house but still after sometime, he would start looking for me. When they went home, they stayed for another 30 minutes in the porch because Ethan suggested to wait for me there. tsk tsk.
On to my class scheduled at 6-10pm, as usual I was the earliest bird. I was able to take photos of our classroom (we had to move to the computer lab after an hour, though). I was right, I was the only Asian in the class and we were all girls. There was another international student, she came from Russia. We bonded immediately. I know I made quite an introduction and ibang iba ang feeling when I told them "I CAME FROM THE PHILIPPINES", for some reasons, I felt so proud to be Pinoy. Everything went okay except for the fact that it was only me who came prepared, NO ONE made their assignments and NO ONE read the book. The quiz will be taken online anytime within a week's time and assignment will be submitted next week. Nagpakabibo kasi eh! LOL!

I think I could manage to finish this particular course with good grades save for the fact that I need to manage my time very well between opps commitment, school and housechores/Ethan. The course is very interesting for me not to pay attention in every lecture we have and make extra effort in the reading part.
Fortunately, we were dismissed 30 minutes before 10pm. However, I informed hubby's cousin, who was going to pick me up that he leaves the house by 10. I had to wait for more than 30 minutes outside of the University because the guards have locked the building already. I forgot my jacket and was chilling the whole time. A female Professor volunteered to stay with me till my ride came, I was so embarrassed for her waiting there with me. Pero buti na lang kasi nakakatakot din sa labas tsk tsk.
As soon as I got home, the little boy was awaken. He was hugging me so tight and kept shouting: "mommy, mommy, mommy! Yey yey!". Ayaw magpababa, sobrang clingy! Kala mo tagal namin di nagkita hahah! So far, I am loving this whole new experience and I am determined to finish this course no matter what it takes.

Today is my official 1st day of school. Eventhough my on-campus course will start on Thursday, my online course is taking most of my time. It was interesting actually as my classmates in the online course came from all walks of life (age ranging from late 20s-60s) and from all parts of the world. I have a classmate in Nigeria, a journalist of Washington Post, a Cosmetologist in Georgia (who is actually very pretty, yeah we submitted our photos, it was optional but I submitted mine as well) and this doctor soldier in Iraq, he's an American Citizen based there and many other interesting personalities in the class. Everyone was very participative in the discussion threads and of course, I should make myself noticeable by my Professor. The readings for this week are overwhelming, I clearly remembered my college days where I took a Bachelor's Degree in International Studies, all the quizzes, exams and projects were composed of purely research and writing. I think it would be similar to that but more reading and more research! At the end of the this Spring quarter, we are required to come up with a minimum of 30-page paper individually, tsk tsk.
One of the things I missed doing is bloghopping. Because things got really busy, my commited Wednesday bloghop day was not met for many weeks now. Again, My Apologies. Thanks to my good blogging buddies TIN and ALPHA for sharing with me the power of BLOGLINES. I tried it today and it is much better to bloghop using this site. So, I hope to be updated with all of your blog entries. Hubby was right for not moving to an apartment this month, my time management skill is really being tested. I wanted to bloghop, read and answer my course assignments, finish opps, and box our stuff all at the same time. And worst, Ethan has been terrible the past days, all he wants is my FULL attention and he is having a hard time sleeping too. I hope to get by soon and have a perfect routine with all these tasks around me. See you all in your blogs!

rushed
Oh Gosh! I just attended the new student orientation last thursday and things got busy already. I haven't even started school yet! I've hardly had time blogging and bloghopping. I'm hoping to squeeze my blogging world in this busy life I have now by next week, even if classes will start by Monday. Anyways, I'm cooking up something for the past weekend and obviously, this would give me more blogging moolah, I wouldn't spare some blogging time off if it wouldn't make money LOL! Nope, I'm not talking about my beauty blog which up to now is very empty hahaha! That, I still have to do as the payment for that domain has been already running for 2 frikkin' months naku! I know I'm rambling. tsk tsk.
Moving on, I told you here, in this entry that I was the weak one when it comes to separation with my son. I thought Ethan was well-prepared about the whole new situation. But I was wrong, huhuhu nadurog ang puso ko! Pakingan ang kwento ko. Everything was set last Thursday. Ethan was oriented that mommy goes to school once a week and since last thursday was only an orientation, I had to be away from him for 2 hours only. Hubby promised to bring him to Wal-mart (again!) to shop for some Jaz transformer toy while waiting for me. So when we turned to Diligence drive, where my school is located, Ethan who was sitting with me at the back clinged to my arms and started saying: "Mommy no school please, no school mommy, not today please, let baba go." I instantly knew disaster was coming. Then he started crying, bawling and wailing all at the same time. When we reached my University, he literally pulled me inside the car, I just had to be strong and dropped his hand. I never looked back but his crying and shouting were too loud for me not to ignore. Surely, nadurog ang puso ko huhuhu. Hubby said he cried for another 30 minutes.

I've had a wonderful time during the orientation. Everthing was a new experience to me. And mind you, I was the only Asian!!! Kainis!!! I was hoping to have a Chinese or Indian attendee at least, if not a Filipino, but when I look around the conference room, nadah! I was so early, afraid to be late, that is why when I entered the room there were no people yet. I took some photos using my phone. And then there were few people coming in till the room was jampacked! As usual we had some loots and a long buffet of snacks outside. People were great and the Campus Dean was oh so funny!

Mostly the incoming students were taking bachelor's degree and they were on their 30s or late 20s and some were beyond 50s, who will take graduate courses like me. There were even people from the military, as you know, Virginia has a lot of bases and they give out education benefits on military troops. I have a feeling wala ata akong magiging close na kaibigan huhuhu!

I was not thinking of Ethan the whole time, I was so engrossed with the orientation. I even won a mug during the contest, bibong student ata ito LOL! I can't helped but noticed this woman with her 2 sons, a baby and a toddler in tow (can you see her?), sayang! Pwede naman pala isama si Ethan. tsk tsk. What's nice about Strayer University is they concentrate on adult education that's why most of their students are taking the online classes because they have fulltime jobs too. Very apt for SAHMs like me. They fit my life! Ika nga ng logo nila: We fit your life!

We finished exactly at 8pm. I exchanged smiles with a few people and made chika chika with my professor. As soon as the online class tutorial was finished, I was running out of the campus to meet my son in Wal-Mart. When I met him and hubby, I noticed 2 bumps in his forehead and near the right eye. tsk tsk! Sabi ko na nga ba, something happened. He accidentally hit his head in the cart and the door. He was also very hungry and was asking for food from me hahah! Eh may baon nga sila, but hubby forgot to ask my son if he was hungry. Ganyan si Ethan basta nasa shoppingan he can forget his tummy, that is why you have to constantly ask him if he's thirsty or hungry. Anyways, hubby needs more training LOL!
All in all, the orientation gave me a gist of what to expect from the University and what my life will be like as a student. I think I can very well cope up with all my other duties. Everything is just manageable. I'm really hoping I could finish this Masteral's Degree as the Campus Dean assured as of a $26k/a year increase in our future salaries lol! Till my next back-to-school entry. Ciao!

Tomorrow, I will be attending the University's new students orientation. I am excited, nervous and happy altogether. But starting tomorrow, I will be away from my son 4 hours a day, once a week. This entry may be a little OA to some but all the stay-at-home moms understand where I am coming from. Do you remember my ENTRY about hubby spending some bonding time with our son so I could have an alone time? He did that again, the other day, they went to Walmart to buy Ethan's Optimus Prime Transformer toy. The whole time they were out, I wasn't myself again. I think I am the one with separation anxiety problem. Even if sometimes, I lost my patience because of his mischievousness such as this picture below when he tried to insert more than 2 cotton buds on his ears, I no longer feel normal being away from my son. On the other hand, Ethan is so prepared with this new set up. Yesterday when I was buying my books online (which costs a fortune! I could buy 1 designer bag for this quarter's worth of books!), he asked what I was doing, I explained to him I was buying books for school. I was surprised to hear him saying this: "Go school mama, Ethan no cry, Ethan strong, stay with baba. Ethan Behave.", you see what I mean? Oh gosh, I don't know what will happen to me tomorrow, I know there would be major adjustments in the coming months as I wanted to find a part-time job while Ethan will be in Pre-K from 9am-3pm come September. The joys and pains of being a SAHM.
We had a long day today. Finally, I'm done enrolling my classes. I have 2 for this Spring quarter, 1 online and 1 on campus. On-campus will be once a week, 6:15-10PM, super workable! Yahoo! Online class is anytime, up to me and online quizzes, major exams are usually on a Saturday night err midnight, which I am sooo used to working late. My brain works better at midnight. Everyone in the university was so warm to give me a welcome, plus a welcome kit full of goodies kaaliw, kulang na lang sa goodies eh take home laptop lol! Everything I need for school can be found in the kit. Lucky new students like me. Can't wait for my orientation next thursday, yey, I hope to make lotsa friends and contacts too. You know what else is fun? My adviser happens to be the Spanish Decent Professor I talked about HERE! I can smell part-time j-o-b! But that would have to wait till September when Ethan goes to school.

Afterwards, off we went for some apartment hunting again. There were lots! I got really tired and Ethan too as the weather was soo hot, we were at 70s-80s! I almost love one particular apartment when one of the female 'EGAY' residents stared at me na parang lalamunin ako with matching dirty finger! Oh no! What did I ever do to her? Crazy girl! Not a good environment. Then we saw another one, a few blocks from my school and just a block away from a pre-school I am eyeing for Ethan, at the back of the building was some shopping center and grocery store. Really convenient. We were set to make a reservation, but when I googled it, oh no! There was a recent shooting incident in that apartment building. tsk tsk. Now, I'm getting a bit scared with moving to an apartment. This apartment hunting is taking most of our time, we are taking our time and slightly being picky. Who wouldn't? We want convenience, security and a little bit of aesthetics and practicality too. Ciao for here, off I blog to my DETOUR BLOG.

You know what they say about living here? "hinahabol parati ang oras sa Amerika!" I don't believe that famous quote until this week. Oh my goodness, hubby and I have been running in circles. We have started ticking off some numbers in our long TO DO LIST. Errands, Errands. Decisions decisions every single day. And for the 1st time in many months, I miss my son's yaya chona. Imagine a son throwing a huge tantrums in a bank? I couldn't blame him because the bank are not for kids and the banker was just so slow attending to his parents. "Dyosko po! Ke hirap ng walang mapagiwanan sa bata while you attend to some important things." As for my school updates, I was supposed to take up only 1 subject this spring classes but I was required to take 2! But no complains, really. Ika nga ni Tin, think long-term! We are Tin, that's keeping us strong. Kung kaya nila, kaya natin hehe!
So anyways, that's the reason why I bombarded you with opps and not so much of personal updates. Really busy. Opps are priorities. Bloghopping will have to wait. My Apologies. Kung pwede lang hatiin ang katawan, naku matagal ng maraming em at maraming titan hahaha! Here's something to compensate my lack of updates. Titan and I thought that our Easter day was a premonition of the busy weeks ahead of us. We had a good family moment. Not thinking that the coming weekends even Sundays, will be working days for us both at the homefront and the unhomefront.
I began the Easter by baking my own version of SUPER chocolate mallows overload, I was supposed to bring it to Ethan's Sunday school classmates but before we even got out of the house, nabawasan na ng isang slice! Sinong salarin? Walang umaamin.

Then we went off to church. Ethan was as usual sitting behavely on his seat. My son really loves going to church, he is most behaved when he is attending mass. If you know my son, you would know why I am so proud of him acting really behaved on church masses. My friends and family can attest to how likot, restless, dennis the menace copycat, pilyo, daldal, he can, but not in church. He just knows that the church is a special place. Then after that, we let Ethan play on the school playground and had a picnic lunch. It was really an easy breezy day, we were able to unwind. After the long day, we went home and finished packing the winter clothes as well as some things we needed to box for the apartment move. Then we had dinner with the clan. As usual, sira ang diet heheh. Here's some of the pictures on the Easter that was. I hope you all had a good one!

Finally, I have finished updating my little boy's milestones in this blog and I don't need to do some back entries anymore. All that's left in my to do list is update his WEB ALBUM.
The last set of milestones:
>>>Every little thing we do that seems to make him remember our daily routine back home he would aptly say: "mommy, like pines (for philippines)". For instance, if we popped some popcorn during our nightly DVD marathons, he would say that "like pines mommy, with daddy yo (referring to my dad), mamy tata (my mom), yayay, uncle (my dico)". As we do this all the time back home every night after dinner. aaaww! Even the kiddo is homesick.
>>>Let him name all of his toys/books and he can, then ask him from whom did it all came from, he knows each and every toy's giver. Even the store where we bought it. hee hee!
>>>Everytime he sees someone fat, he would shout "YAYAY TABA!".I know it's not nice to hear that hehehe. His loving yaya back home weighs 200++ lbs. We miss her. She's with my folks.
>>>He knows each and every gasoline station logos and instantly would say "Chevron, Shell etc... Pump Gas!". As well as the Logos of shopping centers: "Cosco, Wal-Mart, Toys R Us etc...".
>>>While at the kitchen, in between chores, this little boy would insist helping and would say to me "Help Mama, pls". Every kind deed you need to know, should be learned from a toddler!
>>>Oh did I mention before that he shouts: "Call 199 (for 911)" everytime his cars crash or a tire fell off?
>>>Since I tag him along in "The Shop", everytime we go there he would say to me "Ethan needs to work, buy cars kasi".
>>>We both have a portable and a centralized heater. One time, I saw him near the portable heater with an uncooked egg, when asked what he was doing, he said: "cooking egg for baba". His baba's favorite meal includes egg!
>>>Every slow songs he hears, he would associate it with churches and Jesus and Mama Mary.
>>>Whenever I go to the University to do some paperworks, we would tell him that mommy needs to pee and leave him in the Car with his grandma only. The 2nd time we went there, he said, "wiwi mama". But the 3rd, 4th, 5th etc... we were surprised when we heard him say "Not wiwi mama, go school mama", he is an eavesdropping toddler!
taken this morning, as soon as he woke up, he immediately looked for his favorite bread, pandesal

After being cranky the past days, blame it on being homesick and probably the lack of sleep due to raining OPPS lol! I received some good news today. Life is really a big roller coaster ride, after being sad, you'd know that the next day you'd be smiling. So don't fret on little humps that come your way.
First, my Crocs orders arrived after 2 days of online shopping, these cutees made me really smile a lot today.

Then, I just randomly checked if my TOEFL test scores are now available on my online TOEFL account as it has been more than 15 days since my test. Whoa! I got a whopping ____/120! Isang malakas na "nakatsamba" ang nasabi ko. I got a high performance score! Modesty aside, I was really surprised with how high the scores went. I know what they say about TOEFL tests not really being difficult, but I was secretly wishing for a higher level score and not just good scores, so as to skip some subjects if I did an excellent test. There were some extensive English subjects in my masteral curriculum which I could be exempted from if I give the university exemplary TOEFL scores. Which I did =D. Which means lower tuition fees.
A few line starters in my toefl sheet score:
"Test takers who receive a score at the HIGH level, as you did, typically understand academic texts in English that require a wide range of reading abilities regardless of the difficulty of the texts..."
When hubby arrived, I was happy to announce to him how I did in my TOEFL and told him I deserve a gift LOL. He pulled out a box from his mess bag. I was excited and hoping it was my D&B wallet vday wish, hahah but I was wrong. He got this for the lil boy. Enough of my Valentines Wish wallet spoilers!

Just keep remembering these words everytime you encounter difficulties: THIS TOO SHALL PASS!

I had a long busy day today. I could just imagine how life's gonna be once April sets in. My goodness, I think I would be missing OPPS and blogging so much. So it was a good decision not to buy my own domain, afterall, and just enjoy the URL my WIFESPEAKS family has blessed me. Anyhoo, I had been on the road the whole day and was running to and fro signing some important documents and speaking to a lot of people. I had fun eventhough I was so tired from Ethan being in tow! He was actually more popular in the university's admission office than it was me. I got a couple of good news today and was really excited about it. While talking to the admissions office people whom I find very very nice and accommodating, a Professor of Spanish decent but of course an American citizen with a filipina for a wife (which I found out later on) approached me and asked me if I wanted to avail some scholarship program! How cool is that. He was so happy to find out I worked for a diplomatic mission for 7 years and an environmental NGO for half of my college life. So he introduced me to this bunch of happy student affairs people who will help me find an affiliate institution/company who are willing to fund my education and give me allowances while I work or simply make researches for them. Ang saya di ba! Hulog ng langit! And later on I found out that I could avail of their online classes and would only require me to report once a week in school. Double happiness indeed! I really hope they find me some good institution or company I could work for while I study online so as to fill up my credentials for my UN or government dream career. I am not yet revealing the name of the school until April, just yet. But to give you a glimpse of my 2nd home, here are photos I snagged from google. I am one excited gal, really. New environment, new learnings, new future. Basta edukasyon walang talo haha.

I've been really lazy with blogging and haven't been logging on to most of the paidblogging sites. Probably because of Hubby's long vacation which has been extended till Wednesday. I just wanna say hello to everyone who paid visits in my 2 blogs. For now, I'll enjoy hubby's rare presence at home while I whip up Filipino dishes in the kitchen.
By the way, I am so tempted to buy my own domain, but I'm still thinking if it's worth it coz come April I will be too busy for school and other more important things to paidblog or even just blog. We'll see. Regular blogging mode resumes thursday, I hope.

As an incoming international student whose mother tounge is not English, lest taking Master's Degree, I was required to take the TOEFL test. My school needs my scores asap and the earliest I got from the entire Virginia Test Centers last December was January 18. Originally my exam venue was at Virginia Tech, Blacksburgh which was snowing really bad and was like 5 hours drive from where we are. Ten days prior to my exam date, we found an open slot in Falls Church which was the boundary of Virginia and Washington, D.C. Merely 2.5 hours drive only. My exam schedule was 10:30am but was required to report 30 minutes earlier.
A night before my TOEFL test, hubby called up to say that I should prepare baon that we could munch along the way and if the car wrecked (just in case) in the interstate we would have some lunch prepared. We overlooked this part and had no time to buy take outs that late. So since the drivers (titan's 2 uncles) requested for MY adobo, at 10:30pm (coz I had to put Ethan to sleep first) I cooked one and prepared 2 loaves of egg sandwich. Hubby and I finished packing the baon with sodas, juices, nuggets and chips for the 3 other kids at 1am. We were scheduled to leave at 5am because there was a snow storm in the east coast!
The next day, I woke up at 4am. I wanted to look my best so I need an hour for preparation (kikay kasi eh!), but was really really haggard from the lack of sleep. (READ: pictures) We hit the road at exactly 5am, it was freezing!

Everyone was groggy except for Ethan who was wide awake! Then around 7am, we passed by some snow on the street, it was a 1st time for Ethan and me to see one. So we had a pitstop. Titan made some snowball for Ethan and look at his reaction lol!
Then we reached Stratford University, Falls Church (where my exam venue is) at exactly 8:30am. We were 2 hours earlier. You know kids, as soon as they saw snow, they wanted out of the car, so the adults obliged. I was too worried Ethan might get sick that we really bundled him up. Di ko nga kinaya ang lamig because I got the wrong leather jacket! At one point, Ethan felt the need to pee, he doesn't wear diapers anymore and he insisted doing it where he was, he was too excited to leave the snow scene. So he pulled down his pants and peed on the snow. It was funny, but I won't post the pics here. haha!

Then at about 9:30am, I went inside the building and they all left for Washington, D.C., some 30 minutes more driving from Falls Church. That had been Titan's 1st time to fully babysat Ethan on his own. I was worried. At the exam classroom, I met this girl from Panama who was really loud telling me stories I don't really care but we ended up exchanging numbers anyways. She was nice though haha. I was sleepy the entire exam and I would describe TOEFL test as "Hindi Madali, Hindi rin Mahirap" type of exam. It definitely was a college level english exam. I was giggling at the speaking part coz we were all talking at the same time and some were speaking very loud. The exam was really tiring especially if you lack some sleep. I almost fell asleep in the reading part, hay naku! While I was gruelling the very loooong exam, my boys and the rest of them were happily doing photo ops and strolling the stretch of Washington D.C. Tito Vernon even managed to send me thru MMS a photo of them infront of the Whitehouse while I was taking the test, mang-ingit daw ba! :-(.
At exactly 2:00pm, I was done with my exam and I was the 3rd one who finished. I left the room and gave Tito Vernon a call to pick me up. To my surprise, he was already waiting for me at the lobby since 1pm. He gladly drove back alone to pick me up and left the rest of the group so no time will be wasted. On my way down in the Elevator, a black man around his mid 20s was hitting on me. As in pang limang encounter ko na sa black iyan, they have this thing on me. I wonder what. He asked me how the test was, where I leave and if there's anything I need just give him a call and he even asked me if he could drove me back to my place. I politely answered him, and asked when the test result will be out and he said, I worked for strayer and not TOEFL. hehehe pahiya sya. That ends our small talk. As soon as I entered the car, Tito Vernon kept telling stories I cannot comprehend because the test was just too draining and tiring. All I wanted to do was sleep and eat. Suddenly I paid attention to what he was saying when he told me that Ethan will be seen on ESPN. But he didn't give me the details and just told me to ask Titan. I can't wait to see the both of them, I miss my son agad, I was just away from him for 4 hours, di na ako sanay! Then, we reached Washington D.C. and I was surprised to see Ethan wearing the scarf (which I both from Terranova in Pinas hahah!), he was sooo terribly cute, no wonder those ESPN agents noticed him. He gave me a big smile from across the street and kept shouting "mommy mommy".

Washington, D.C. is so posh, so cosmopolitan yet historical! People dressed very differently. I was as if watching a fashion show of trenchcoats, jackets, bags and boots! Name the brands and they're wearing them. Titan kept telling me that he wants to live there, me either. There are a lot of Embassies and Foreign Institutions there where I'd like to be employed at. (cross fingers!) and they say it's not as crowded and dirty compared to NY.
It was getting late and we had to be hitting the road early to avoid traffic and the snow storm. So all that's left for me to roam were the Smithsonian Museums and Parks, National Museum of the Natural History (which was really awesome), A photo op at the National Monument, National Capitol and Supreme Court and we passed by Pentagon and the White House but didn't take pictures because parking was hard and we didn't find any. I'll post more photos at my Multiply Site tomorrow but for now, here are some for your viewing pleasure.

Then we left at 6pm. On the way home, Titan told me about the ESPN Story. An agent noticed Ethan and asked his dad if they could take some photos and video clip of him crossing the street on his own. They found him really cute and energetic, it would be part of a segment's soft opening clip. Of course, the dad was excited, he obliged and the little boy crossed the street on his own, he was running though. The agents said it was alright as they would make it look like spontaneous. With Titan's excitement, he failed to ask when this will be shown. Ang saya di ba! In return, Ethan was given a small NASA airplane as a token.

There you go, I hope I didn't bore you. Las Vegas Trip kwento na lang ang backlog ko sa travel entries. Yahoo!

We're back from my TOEFL test and our quick Washington, D.C. detour trip. I've got sooo many stories to tell and photos to show. Ethan had a blast throwing snow balls to his aunts and my husband just heart Washington D.C. But I'm really tired, fatigued and sleepy now. I'll be just wrapping up 2 more opps and i'm off to hit the sack. Just a little teaser from our trip, Ethan was taken a couple of photos and a video clip by an ESPN agent while strolling along Washington. They find him really cute with that little brightly colored scarf on him and his quirkiness and energy is so apt with their new segment. I'm hoping to see him on international TV soon. yahoo!
Being unable to blog for 2 days is already on hiatus mode for me, hahah! Ganon na ako ka attach sa blog ko LOL! Which means, I haven't been on internet in those days (If I was, only for some important reasons and for a very minute time). I have been ignoring opps and there were actually opps that expired on me, sayang huhuhu! In those days that I was gone, I almost burned the house (that's another blog entry), watching ANTM (i wish natasha won!) and Project Runway (i really hate this season's contestants) I have been delightfully and religiously writing on my Beloved Journal, setting goals with my husband, straightening up my priorities and crammingly preparing for my TOEFL test. Hubby bought me this thick toefl for the dummies book with some CDs for online practice tests which he commanded me to complete over the weekend. haha! I was really guarded para akong na house arrest! So there, I'm back to my usual routine again and will be back on hiatus mode by friday for my toefl test (wish me luck!) and over the weekend, for our DC trip (cross fingers! I hope there aren't any snow hazzard news so we'd likely pushthrough with our plan, otherwise we'll go home straight after my test).
It is indeed raining opps! Sana tuloy tuloy na! I hit my track record by posting almost 20 entries in 1 single day. Can you believe that? hahahha! And another thing, I almost earned my total December's paidblogging earnings in just a week this January! Napakaganda ng simula ng taon, pwera usog. Paidblogging is really fun, aside from the money matters, I have been learning a lot of information and have been writing entries really fast so I'd be able to grab as many opps as I can. Plus of course, (humility aside) I think my writing skills are improving, just right in time for my TOEFL test.
But before my blog gets flooded with opps, I am writing a new to do list for myself:
1) Again, my VERY MUCH delayed Vegas Trip entry.
2.) Updates on Ethan as he turned 2.8yrs old.
3.) Send off dinners, surprises pictures & videos, finally I am ready to post them *).
4.) Update all my network sites.
I encourage everyone who breathe, sleep and heart blogging to join the big bandwagon of paidblogging. It is very rewarding and totally worth it. Before I end this "short" filler, please try to visit my detour site also, there has been some confusion so here are the proper links:
ORIGINAL BLOG is http://em.wifespeaks.com or http://www.purpleism.livejournal.com

If you have been checking my site using the wifespeaks.com url, all the sites that link to that will not be shown in the search field (only the http://em.wifespeaks.com) unless you look at the bottom left of your Internet Explorer page. FYI. toodles.

As my husband and I were making a prep list for my TOEFL exam date, we found out that my exam venue, Virginia Tech, Blacksburgh is snowing really bad. We discovered also that it is not 3 hours drive but 5 hours! We tried to look for an alternative test area and we were lucky to find one in Stratford University, Falls Church VA. It is shorter by 3 hours drive as compared to Blacksburgh. No more sleeping over in a hotel. It is only 2 hours away from where we are. We immediately changed my test order venue and despite the additional U$50 dollar charge, we've saved so much for the hotel and gas fees. And guess what? It is so near Washington D.C., we're currently including a visit to D.C. in the plan. Cross fingers!

Hay naku! Finally my toefl test is registered. They say this is an easy peasy type of exam though lengthy. But the booking process was really stressful. Both my husband and I consumed sleepless nights in booking my test date as there were no earlier test dates available and the toefl website was having system problems for several days. I'm just glad i'm over it, I used their phone-in registration instead. And guess where my test location is: "THE" Virginia Tech in Blacksburgh, haha! It's the only test location that has earlier test date which will be on Jan18. I guess it will also be a little trip for the whole family because it would be like 3 hours drive from where we are. Oh well, wish me luck.
(a week before christmas)
Where was I all these time? This will be the 1st of my (usual) backtracking entries.
What really really kept me busy all these time is... tada! I am going back to school! Oh yes I am, I can't believe it as well hohoho! I have decided to take a Master's Degree in Public Administration. It was a big toss between getting a more advanced training on Make-Up and Styling but it turned out it is more expensive. I still believe that artistic skills are pure talent and only a little bit of training right? Remember the veterans and experts on make-up doesn't even have proper schooling. Well anyway, going back why Public Ad? I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in International Studies and I have been really wanting to frikin' get a spot in UN headquarters or WorldBank or WorldHealth or other international funding organizations. My exposure with the Embassy of Canada and an environmental NGO since graduating from school(and also after watching Angelina Jolie in Beyond Borders), lead me to choose a career path that would touch a change in the world. Something worthwhile, hindi puro sweldo lang. Naks, pang miss universe na sagot LOL! But more than anything else, I wanted to have socialization, so I am going back to school whether I would be able to finish this or not, I am determined and excited to go back to school. I have attended the open house in the university and they immediately accepted me with my credentials, and actually waived my GMAT because of my work experience. Buti na lang coz I have been hearing that GMAT is really really hard. I have yet to take TOEFL because it is a U.S. government pre-requisite, which I am really having a hard time scheduling my test date online. (will somebody help me pls?) I still have a lot of paper works to do before they could officially change my status to student. School starts by April 2008 and I'm not taking full load as to have time with Ethan. But I am really really excited about being back to school with completely different kind of environment.
So anyways, Titan went with me during the University Open House and we left Ethan with one of his Grandmas here. I was worried the entire time, but surprisingly he wasn't a handful with them. Hmmm, bakit kaya? That was Titan's day off so we took advantage of the time and had picture taking with Santa. It was a good family time. Here's sharing some of the photos we had on that rare day. (I am not posting our family pic with Santa as we look flat and fat, pinareho ba naman kay Santa, kenes! ang mahal pa naman ng bayad LOL!)
